Decorating Your Roof for the Holidays
Dec 08, 2014
It’s that time of year again! Thanksgiving is over and you’ve pulled all of your Christmas decorations down from the attic and you are ready to decorate the outside of your house! Whether it’s a giant plastic sleigh and reindeer or a simple string of lights, H & S Roofing and Gutters has you covered this holiday season.
Whether you are framing your home with a string of lights or icicles, make sure the lights have the Underwriters Laboratories (UL) label, keeping you and your home safe from a potential fire hazard. To easily attach the lights to your gutters or shingles, try light holders - they come in a variety of pack sizes, are inexpensive, and won’t damage your roof in the process. Don’t forget to test the lights before climbing the ladder!
If you get on your roof to attach Christmas decorations, make sure the shingles are clear of debris, snow and ice and you are not doing this alone. Always have a buddy with you, in case of an accident. Also, when working on your roof, proper footwear is necessary, which means non-skid soles, no sandals.
When decorating your roof for the holiday season, be sure to use sturdy, appropriate tools specific for electrical wiring and roofing.
If you want your holiday decorations to be put up without the safety risk, give the professionals at H & S Roofing and Gutters a call for help.
