Choosing New Gutters
Sep 29, 2014
If your gutters are showing signs of wear (leaks, cracks, holes, sagging, etc), it may be time to mconsider replacing your gutter system.
The most popular option in our area, aluminum, is relatively inexpensive while also being sturdy and workable. Available in a variety of colors, aluminum will not rust when exposed to elements and time.
If you are looking for a classic or heavy-duty gutter system, copper may be your best choice, although it can be prohibitively expensive. It is also important to keep in mind that copper will change colors when exposed to different weather conditions
Gutters come in different styles and sizes (ever heard of K-style, box or half-round?), according to the opening, downspout width and length and thickness of the material. The most common gutter size usually measures about 5 or 6 inches across the top with a 3 x 4 inch downspout.
